The Importance of Having an Opinion About Russia

The Importance of Having an Opinion About RussiaIn general, Westerners have been very quick to give their assessments about Russian view in response to West. Indeed, there is much popular literature that has gone around about that.In contrast, what happens more often is that Russian reading public have not bothered to get into Westerners' assessments about their country. Thus, many Americans don't know about the West's views on Russia. In fact, even though they may have seen Russia from a distance over the years, they are still less knowledgeable about Russia. What makes things worse for Westerners are the methods Russian government and various political actors use in order to stir up their own public against them. For example, while Russia has its own public opinion polling companies that are exposed on TV, Westerners are more commonly in tune with media reports and general discussions about current events. Thus, they take notice of what's going on.That said, when the West and its me dia and opinion-makers come out with claims about what's going on in Russia, they are just taking things out of context.
